Removing a Tick

It is that time of year where ticks become a problem. Originally suggested by a school nurse and confirmed with a pediatrician. To remove a tick where tweezers won't fit or are too scary: Apply a blob of liquid soap to a cotton ball. Cover the tick with the soap-soaked cotton ball and swab it for a few seconds (15-20). The tick will come out on its own and stuck to the cotton ball when you lift it away!

Hot Weather Hydration Tips

The warm weather is GREAT! Kids are playing outdoors. But are they getting enough fluids to keep them hydrated?

Fluids are always important, but more so in the warm weather with active play. Some easy suggestions are: Start them out right away in the morning with milk, fruit, fruit juices, or fruit flavored drinks. Make up some extra plastic bottles, and store them in the refrigerator. These all count towards the fluids they should drink. The kids will love helping themselves and theirs bodies will enjoy the hydration.

Gum Stuck in the Hair - No Problem!

Peanut butter does the trick. Gently rub the peanut butter into the gum. Slowly loosen up the hair. This might take up to 15 minutes but it is MUCH better than cutting the hair!

Run... Bees!!!!

When outdoors and bees are near, wear light colored clothing. Bees are attracted to bright colors. Also, try not to smell good. no perfume, cologne or even hairspray. Maybe they think you are a flower if you smell good and have on pretty colors. So dress dull and smell plain and the bees should leave you alone.
